When this tool helps
A short expression can give different answers if its order is unclear. The native calculator applies multiplication and division before addition and subtraction, while brackets make the intended grouping explicit. It is designed for everyday arithmetic rather than a scientific worksheet.
Enter the expression yourself using the keypad or the editable calculation field. The result updates when the expression is complete. Calculate & save deliberately keeps a result in local History; typing alone does not fill History with unfinished calculations.
What to enter
These are the candidate Android fields, not a form on this website. Editable fields in the app start empty; modes and units are selected separately.
- Calculation
- Numbers, decimal points, +, −, ×, ÷, brackets and a postfix % sign.
Try this example after the update is available
The values below explain the calculation. They are not a quote, a live measurement or an automatic answer for your situation.
- Calculation
- 2+3×4
Checked example result14
Multiply 3 by 4 first, then add 2. To add before multiplying, enter (2+3)×4 instead; that gives 20.
Formula and assumptions
2 + (3 × 4) = 2 + 12 = 14
- The percent key divides the immediately preceding number or bracketed value by 100. For example, 200×5% is 10.
- The input is limited to 200 characters. Decimal arithmetic can be rounded for display; this is not a symbolic algebra system.
A common mistake to avoid
Do not assume 200+5% means “increase 200 by five percent.” Here 5% is the value 0.05, so that expression adds 0.05. Use the Percentage tool for a clearly labelled percentage task.
Find this tool in the Android update
- When you have the redesigned Android update, open Tools and search for Calculator, or find it under Numbers.
- Open the tool, choose the mode or units relevant to your task, then enter your own values.
- Review the result and explanation. Use Calculate & save only if you want the calculation kept in local History; Copy result does not send it to our server.
This guide is an educational preview of the update in testing, not an announcement that Google Play has approved or published it. Calculations are in the native app; no web calculator or download is offered on this page.
Questions about Calculator
Why is my incomplete expression not a result?
A trailing operator, an unmatched bracket or an invalid number needs correction before the app can calculate. Division by zero is rejected.
Does this calculator include powers or trigonometry?
No. This candidate supports basic arithmetic, brackets and percentages, not scientific functions or graphing.
