When this tool helps
A trip, deadline and attendance period may use different counting rules. “Days between” normally measures elapsed calendar days; an inclusive count also counts the start date. This tool exposes that choice instead of quietly choosing a convention for you.
Select two dates using the native date pickers, then choose whether to count both dates. The calculation uses calendar dates, not the exact times of day. It also identifies when the end is before the start rather than silently swapping your entries.
What to enter
These are the candidate Android fields, not a form on this website. Editable fields in the app start empty; modes and units are selected separately.
- Start date
- The beginning of the interval.
- End date
- The date to compare with the start.
- Count both dates?
- No for elapsed days; Yes for inclusive counting.

- End date
- 2024-03-01
- Count both dates?
- No
Checked example result2 days
The interval crosses 29 February in a leap year. From 28 February to 1 March is two elapsed days; counting both dates would return three days.
Formula and assumptions
Elapsed days = end calendar date − start calendar date; inclusive count adds one in the interval’s direction
- All calendar days are counted. Weekends, bank holidays and work schedules are not removed.
- The week-and-day breakdown is another way to express the same absolute interval, not a separate business-week calculation.
A common mistake to avoid
Do not use an inclusive attendance count as an elapsed deadline duration without checking the rule that applies. The same two selected dates can legitimately produce different counts.
Find this tool in the Android update
- When you have the redesigned Android update, open Tools and search for Days between dates, or find it under Everyday.
- Open the tool, choose the mode or units relevant to your task, then enter your own values.
- Review the result and explanation. Use Calculate & save only if you want the calculation kept in local History; Copy result does not send it to our server.
This guide is an educational preview of the update in testing, not an announcement that Google Play has approved or published it. Calculations are in the native app; no web calculator or download is offered on this page.
