Offline unit conversion guide: select matching units

When this tool helps

A unit conversion changes the representation of a quantity, not the quantity itself. Select the kind of measurement before choosing From and To; that keeps unrelated dimensions out of the same conversion. The 10 groups are length, weight, volume, temperature, area, time, speed, data storage, energy and pressure.

These definitions are bundled with Android and need no network lookup. There is no currency-rate service. Some units also have explicit conventions: cups and gallons in the volume group are US units, and storage choices distinguish decimal kB/MB/GB from binary KiB/MiB/GiB.

Type of unit: Choose one measurement group.
Value: The quantity expressed in the From unit.
From and To: Select two supported units in the same group.

One international inch is defined as exactly 0.0254 metres. Selecting Inches → Metres and entering 1 returns 0.0254.

Formula and assumptions

Converted value = input × source factor ÷ destination factor; temperature uses an offset formula

Temperature conversion accounts for Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin offsets; values below absolute zero are rejected.
Displayed numerical precision is finite. The converter is not a laboratory calibration, uncertainty or significant-figures system.

A common mistake to avoid

A US gallon is not an Imperial gallon, and 1 MB is not 1 MiB. Read the full unit names rather than treating similar abbreviations as interchangeable.

No. Only fixed measurement definitions are included; live or historical currency exchange rates are not provided.

What is the difference between kB and KiB here?

kB means 1,000 bytes, while KiB means 1,024 bytes. The choices identify the convention explicitly.
